Adelaide is about to cop another wintry blast with the Bureau of Meteorology issuing a severe weather warning for Adelaide and various parts of the state.

Damaging winds are set to hit the Adelaide metro area starting tonight and continuing throughout Thursday.

Adelaide can expect wind gusts of up to 90 km/h tomorrow.

The weather alert extends past Adelaide to take in the Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders Ranges, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of the West Coast and Riverland.

The SES is advising people in those areas to keep their vehicles away from trees, secure any loose items around the property and stay indoors away from windows until the conditions pass.
