A $1 million go-kart track and laser skirmish is in the works for Gawler, north of Adelaide, but is yet to get the final go-ahead.

The Advertiser reports that Munno Para businessman Greg Cowie is seeking planning approval to build two courses for electric and petrol powered go-karts on Tiver Rd, Evanston South.

He intends to use existing buildings at the site for offices, indoor laser skirmish and go-karts storage.

Under the plans, there would be a 5m-high wall on the edge of the property in a bid to minimise noise for neighbours.

The business would come with good credibility as it is being developed with successful Gepps Cross Kart Mania owner Sonya Edwards, who is Greg’s partner.

“This site was ideal, as it had three acres of concrete laid, it was a dream scenario for karting” he said to The Advertiser.

He intends to use one track for children on electric go-karts and another for teens and adults using petrol go-karts.

He said future stages of development could include a paintball field and an indoor rock climbing wall.

The development proposal is open for public consultation until June 19.

Fingers crossed it gets over the line!
