A man has died after falling off a Lime scooter in Brisbane.
The 50-year-old was riding the scooter in the early hours of Wednesday morning when he fell and sustained a serious head injury despite wearing a helmet.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but passed away on Thursday.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the fall from the scooter might have included a tumble down some stairs.
Lime has ruled out malfunction of the scooter as a cause of the accident.
It is the first death involving a Lime scooter in Brisbane.
Adelaide had a trial of the Lime scooters through its busy festival season in March and April.
The Adelaide City Council recently decided to scrap the Lime scooters and trial two new companies’ scooters – Beam and Ride. The trial will last until October.
