Thousands of Mitsubishi Pajeros have been recalled over a steering fault which could cause accidents.

The recall affects the 2017/18 Mitsubishi Pajero NX which was bought by more than 6300 Australians between November 2016 and July 2019.

According to the company, ‘inadequate welding strength’ on the lower control arm could make it fail at one of the weld joints. If the lower control arm fails, the steering mightn’t operate correctly, increasing the risk of injury or accident for both the driver and other road users.

Owners will be contacted by Mitsubishi and advised to organise a free fix with their nearest dealer.

Concerned drivers can call 1800 931 811 for more information.
