You could have 110 million reason to not go to work tomorrow with tonight’s Powerball hitting a record jackpot.
One-in-three Aussies are expected to snag a ticket in the draw, but time is running out to get your hands on one (or seven).
And if last week is anything to go by, things are only going to get crazier as the arvo wears on…
“There’s definitely going to be quite busy today,” Lottery spokesman James Mooney said.
“Between 4 and 5pm is usually the busiest times for retailers, we’re expecting to peak at over 1100 tickets a minute.”

Across Australia, The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said that last week saw the busy time peak at more than 4,700 entries sold in 60 seconds – many leaving it to the final minutes.
“We are in uncharted territory with this $110 million draw, but if previous big jackpots are anything to go by, today we’re expecting queues out the door at lottery outlets and a surge in online entries,” she said.
You have until 6pm!
Mix102.3 breakfast hosts Jodie and Soda have already put their numbers in – with significant help from their FOTS (friends of the show).
But there’ll be all sorts of controversy if 16, 24, 32, 31, 7, 19, 13, and powerball 2 come up tonight.
Soda has already flagged his intention to keep the money for himself by going and buying the ticket with his own money. He did say he’d fulfill the promise of throwing Adelaide’s biggest party though.
