AFLW star Tayla Harris’ kick that triggered abuse online has been immortalised in bronze.

The 3.3m statue, which captures the famous photograph by Michael Wilson, was commissioned by the AFLW’s major sponsor NAB.

Harris said she is humbled by the statue, “It is surreal to see it, although I don’t think I will fully understand or appreciate the significance of it for another 20 years,” she said.

“For me at the time, I never wanted anyone to pity me, particularly because I felt so empowered and strong.”

The prototype of the statue is on show at Federation Square in Melbourne.
