Johnny Depp could possibly be returning to his role of Captain Jack Sparrow in upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean project.
Famous producer of Top Gun Jerry Bruckheimer has talked how Johnny Depp could potentially tell another story in the Pirates franchise. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Bruckheimer stated “I would love to have him in the movie. He’s a friend, a terrific actor, and it’s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do.” Although the producer did go onto say that Disney has the final word on whether Depp could lead the film, “You’d have to ask them. I can’t answer that question. I really don’t know.”
Bruckheimer confirmed that the character of Jack Sparrow would also never be killed off.
“You can’t,” he said. “We tried to kill him. It didn’t work.”
Depp said in a recent interview that he would like one last shot to say goodbye to the character. “My feeling was that these characters should be able to have their proper goodbye, as it were,” The famous actor said. “A franchise can only last for so long, and there’s a way to end a franchise like that, and I thought that the characters deserved to have their way out, to end the franchise on a very good note. I planned on continuing until it was time to stop.”
Bruckheimer talking about both upcoming “Pirates” projects, “Oh God, they’re all hard. We have a very good script. We developed two of them — the one with Margot Robbie and one with a younger cast. The Margot Robbie one needs a little more work. The younger cast one is close. Hopefully we’ll get both of them made.”
So we may see Johnny Depp back on our screens as Captain Jack Sparrow very soon.
