The Adelaide Festival Centre proudly reveals the latest luminaries to grace its esteemed Walk of Fame, paying homage to the exceptional performers whose artistry illuminated its stages throughout 2023.

Among the honored recipients is the South Australian sensation, Hans (Matt Gilbertson), securing the prestigious Public Choice star. Joining him are the accomplished singer-songwriter and Barkindji woman, Nancy Bates, acclaimed with the Critics’ Choice star, and the legendary Australian entertainer, Patti Newton AM.

Hans, Australia’s beloved Berlin boy-wonder and award-winning performer, clinched the Public Choice accolade for his electrifying performance in the Disco Spektakular Tour 2023. Nancy Bates earned the Critics’ Choice star for her mesmerizing portrayal in Still Talking ‘Bout a Revolution. Patti Newton AM, already celebrated with the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust’s Choice star last year during her portrayal of Bird Woman in Mary Poppins, now adds another gleaming star to her illustrious career.

Expressing his gratitude, Hans remarked, “To be among the esteemed names on the Walk of Fame is truly a humbling experience. It’s an honor to be recognized by the public and to have their support throughout my journey. I’m thrilled that they’ll now be able to ‘walk all over me’ for years to come.”

These celebrated artists join a constellation of over 130 luminaries who have graced the stages of the Adelaide Festival Centre since its inception in 1973.

Each year, three stars are added to the walkway in the form of bronze plaques – one chosen by public vote, and two selected by the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust and a panel of arts critics. Previous recipients include renowned figures such as William Barton, Annette Shun Wah, Billy Crystal, and Olivia Newton-John, among others.

Douglas Gautier AM, CEO & Artistic Director of Adelaide Festival Centre, remarked, “The Walk of Fame stands as a testament to the incredible talent that has enriched our stages over the years. We congratulate Hans, Nancy Bates, and Patti Newton AM for their invaluable contributions to our 50th-anniversary celebrations.”
